Well, as much as you can afford!

We live in a real litigious society, and people associate automobile accidents, I’m afraid, sometimes, with a deeper pocket. That’s a whole subject matter that’s sensitive to me. But, for sure, you have to have minimal coverage called “PIP” in order to get your car registered. You get a tag on your car, you have got to show that you have personal injury protection. And that protects you, pays your medical bills, your lost wages. You don’t have to have liability coverage in our state to drive. And because that’s the law, the best spent premium for someone who’s going to be out on the road, is to talk to their insurance agent about what it costs to have uninsured or underinsured motorist coverage.

You’re buying coverage for someone who may strike you or cause an accident where you’re hurt and because they’re not required to have liability coverage, you’re buying (if you will) some insurance to protect yourself if that happens. It’s money well spent.

Well, as much as you can afford!

You need to have PIP to get your tag, liability coverage to protect yourself (if you can afford it, and you should be responsible), and certainly uninsured or underinsured motorist coverage.
