Trial Team Experience
I am a board certified civil trial lawyer with millions of dollars in recovery for injured persons after settlement and trial. As a board certified civil trial attorney , I am recognized by the State of Florida as an expert in civil trial litigation. My experience as both an attorney for the insurance companies and for wrongfully injured parties, allows me to understand and capitalize on every weakness in the opposing party’s case. I have successfully litigated cases in both State and Federal Court, and I am uniquely qualified to make informed decisions for my clients based on hard fought victories in Miami-Dade, Broward, Orange, Osceola, Brevard, Volusia, Lake, Pasco, and Seminole counties to name only a few. This breadth of practical trial experience in both small, local and large, big-city courts, allows me to adapt my trial strategy seamlessly for the best outcomes and maximum recoveries for my clients. As a trial expert, I confidently handle lawsuits involving motor vehicle accidents, slip and fall injuries due to owner negligence, injuries and trauma that result from negligent security, nursing home abuse, medical malpractice, injuries due to product liability negligence, and wrongful death causes of action. I have successfully argued in State appellate court, and I am therefore diligent and assertive in my arguments and objections during trial, thus protecting the victorious judgments we win.
Biography
Growing up on a sailboat in the Bahamas, I did not have access to many modern luxuries like air-conditioning, refrigeration, or television. So instead of watching half-hour sitcoms or action adventure shows about talking cars, I became a voracious reader. When I wasn’t fishing, exploring deserted islands, or doing chores, I was reading. It was through books that I discovered a fascination with laws and government. It was this interest that led me to study history in college and to attend law school.
While attending law school, I participated in a student exchange program that allowed me the opportunity to study law at Oxford University, England and then at Charles University, Prague, Czech Republic. I was one of only a handful of students selected to participate in the Moot Court Team and competed in competitions against other students around the country. My third year of law school, I was elected to the Order of the Barristers, a national honor society whose purpose is to encourage oral advocacy and brief-writing skills.
Following law school I began my legal career in South Florida as an insurance defense attorney. For the next 16 years, I represented multinational insurance companies in complex litigation around the state. During that time, I obtained extensive trial experience. I received the highest rating of “AV Preeminent” by Martindale-Hubbell’s Legal Ability Rating system. An “AV Preeminent” rating demonstrates that a lawyer has reached the height of professional excellence (Very High to Preeminent).
After years of working for the insurance industry, I decided to use my knowledge and skills to assist people who have suffered injuries. I have been blessed to have had the opportunity to learn how to practice from people I admire and respect. Learning how to do things correctly makes the practice of personal injury law more enjoyable.
I am married and have two children. I enjoy cooking, reading, working out, traveling, and spending time with my family. If I had not gone to law school, I would have gone to culinary school and become a chef.
