Biography
I have always been interested in using our judicial system to equally protect everyone. I like people and enjoy the development of personal friendships. Helping others and making sure my personal injury clients are not taken advantage of has brought great personal satisfaction. I have loved helping the “under dog” get what they are lawfully entitled to receive. I have an uncle who is a very successful attorney. He was able to provide for his family and was involved in many areas that interested me. He was a professional role model.
I feel I am very compassionate and can see both sides of any argument. However, once I determine my position, I am very determined and focused with all my personal injury clients. Having had back surgery myself, I feel that I understand both the objective and subjective complaints of pain. The ability to empathize with people has been a great help. While attending law school, I worked as an adjuster for a large insurance company investigating and settling liability claims. If I had chosen an alternate career path, it would have certainly been medicine. I thought plastic surgery would provide not only a creative outlet but would provide a great opportunity to serve those in need.
When I was 19, I lived in Scotland and served a Mission for our church. It was a great experience and prepared me for graduate school, marriage and a family. We have a large family. Twelve children have brought much happiness and many challenges. We enjoy large family gatherings with our 55 grandchildren. We have developed a great family loyalty to each other regarding the things we believe in.
I am a collector of Western memorabilia. I also collect Florida trees and now have planted more than 200 palm trees in my yard. Our family also owns Wild Florida Airboats and Exotic Animal Park. We love the beautiful outdoors and wildlife of Florida and enjoy sharing it with family and guests. Several years ago, my sons gave me water buffaloes for Christmas. I raise zebras and ankole watusi cattle from Africa and miniature zebu from Brazil.
