Biography
I was in 5th grade when I first decided I wanted to be an attorney. My first exposure to the law was, naturally, courtroom dramas on television. My desire to become an attorney never wavered, and, as I got older, I fully realized the important—and diverse—roles that attorneys play in our society. One of the most exciting parts of being an attorney is the different potential paths you can take to influence positive change in society; that is what really motivated me to become an attorney.
I began practicing in Palm Beach County, Florida, and my cases were primarily mortgage foreclosure defense and family law. I was 24 years old and had spent my entire life in school. I found myself thrust into complex financial and familial issues in which I had no experience, both professionally and personally. However, a strong work ethic and a tendency to overprepare helped me create positive outcomes for my clients. I moved on to a law firm that focused on property insurance litigation and gained significant trial and appellate experience in both state and federal courts.
The role of a litigator is, necessarily, adversarial. However, I most enjoy the role as counselor to my clients, who come to me with legal issues that often have a profound impact on their daily lives. Understandably, legal problems are emotionally charged and factually complex. To counter this, I rely on my calm demeanor and a thoughtful approach. I strive to understand every aspect of a case and make no assumption on whether a certain fact is important or not. My strong work ethic and tendency to overprepare remains consistent to this day, and I welcome the opportunity to use my education and experience to help clients navigate our complex legal system.
